This leads me to think its the hormones being so outta whack, making it harder for your body to lose the weight. It sounds alot like PCOS but without the infertility. I just had my son 3 months ago (and have pcos) and am currently having the same issue. Was just a few lbs shy of my pre pregnancy weight and then BAM skyrocketed almost back to what it was at 37 weeks pregnant. Like WTF?

I know other mums have had a similar experience, so hormonal imbalances could definitely be part of the problem, or at least contributing to it. It’s just so frustrating to almost get down to pre-pregnancy weight, and then it piles back on again.

I totally understand you on this! I lost weight fast after my twins, but after about three months it started creeping back up again. Now I could probably eat a lot better but I’m finding the struggle in that. When I have to be up all night- I binge to stay awake. Hopefully something will change in a while but right now I’m trying to enjoy them and not focus on the weight I’ve gained. Self love for everyone ?

It’s definitely a struggle. Especially when you’re up all night, and so tired, something has to give. They do need a lot of attention, and are definitely a priority when they’re so young. I found it hard enough with one baby at a time, I don’t think I would have been able to cope with two.

Ugh, I’m sorry, how frustrating. I gained quite a bit of weight with my first pregnancy and it took me a while to lose it all, but I can’t say that I gained weight after giving birth. Plant-based eating and natural supplements from a naturopathic practitioner helped me balance my hormones and finally lose all the weight for good.

It can take awhile to find something that works. I’m glad you found something that helped.

I gained a lot of weight as well, and mine was coupled with post part depression. Just work on a healthy lifestyle and enjoy those babies.

It’s frustrating, isn’t it? That sounds like a good plan.

Yes, would be great to find out why, but I’ll definitely keep working on it. Thank you, I’ll check it out.

I’d lost most of the baby weight by the time my third was 5 months old and then put on 2 stone in 3 months. No idea why and despite dieting and exercising I just can’t shift it. I now look 6 months pregnant again and I hate it. I’m off to the GP to get checked out but not hopeful that they’ll find anything. I suspect it’s just one of those things.

I’ve heard quite a few women have had the same kind of issues and it doesn’t matter what you do, it won’t shift. The most annoying thing is not knowing why. Hopefully you can find some answers.

Weight gain after having a child is pretty common but if weight gain can help the child become healthy is worth it. We can always try and lose weight after giving birth but we have to take care of ourselves when we are pregnant.
